Action man
or couch potato?

Anne Atkins explores the excitement and diversity on offer at the
Holland & Holland Shooting Grounds

Choose from over a dozen activities on offer at the Shooting Grounds. From falconry to hovercraft rides, off road driving to archery - we guarantee we have something for everyone to create a successful and memorable day.

W hen I was young I thought of sport as whacking a tennis ball energetically across a net on a gorgeous summer's afternoon, or cantering breezily across a field. It wasn't until years later that I met the idea of sport as slobbing in front of the telly with a can of beer, yelling at the ref.

Your approach can be Action Man or Couch Potato. It is the same with Corporate Entertainment. If these two words conjure up the Stewards' Enclosure at Henley, Centre Court at Wimbledon, or a visit to Royal Ascot or Badminton, then I'm sorry to have to break it to you but your PR is essentially yesterday's. You have a CP approach to your CE. But your business will have no edge. No drive. No tomorrow about it at all.

Imagine. There are a couple of people you particularly wish to impress. (Or two hundred. The principle is the same.) You wrack your brains. They have already been there and done that, not once, not twice, but probably dozens of times. Everyone is so bored with the betting slips and opera boxes and oodles of food and wine. It can be a waste of time; and of waist-lines. If only you could do something exciting, energetic, active. Learn a skill, perhaps, burn off some adrenalin, compete, even show off.

Have something to show for it at the end of the day. If only you could put on something British and traditional or wildly imaginative and romantic or difficult or authentic or something aggressively modern and boyish. Wouldn't it be wonderful if you could give your client something different? Better still, a combination of some of these activities? Suppose you could lay it on in the context of superb hospitality, smooth entertaining, and sumptuous three-course meals?
