Detail: Traditional ‘Royal’ Scroll engraving pattern
This classic pattern has been used for over 110 years to decorate Holland & Holland shotguns & rifles. The background is cut away with numerous closely spaced parallel lines.
The purpose of these fine lines is to break up the reflection of light and create a dark contrast to the bright smooth surfaces of the scrolls and the scroll ’heads’.
