Our Approach to Responsible and Sustainable Business
We recognise the fundamental importance of sustainability in helping drive value for both our business and the broader society. In 2018-19 we undertook a materiality process and conducted both internal and external interviews with key stakeholders, to identify social, environmental and governance issues. These have informed our ‘Our Strategy for Responsible and Sustainable Business’ along the following four pillars:

Country Food Trust
To deliver on our strategy, we have established a cross-functional CSR steering committee which meets on a quarterly basis to set and review sustainability performance in line with the strategy and reports on an annual basis to the Holland & Holland management board.
Holland & Holland has defined an approach to responsible supply chain management designed to better manage and mitigate risks.
The Holland & Holland Responsible Sourcing Policy, shared with all direct suppliers as of April 2019, contains key provisions covering animal welfare considerations, along with other key environmental and social impact areas (eg. biodiversity and human rights).
The Holland & Holland procurement team conducts an ongoing review of animal welfare, environmental and social concerns associated with specific raw materials for clothing & accessories, and the guns business. Holland & Holland’s preferred standards and third party certifications covering cotton, wool, cashmere, down/ feathers, leather and fur have been communicated to direct suppliers.
The procurement teams undertake ongoing training to raise awareness relating to the terms of our sourcing policy, what to look for at supplier sites, and how to work on improvements on an ongoing basis.
While Holland & Holland generates relatively little waste, we recognise that we are not immune from “the waste problem”. In order to better manage our sales, promotional and marketing waste, along with packaging waste, we have embarked on a mapping exercise to understand annual waste volumes by typology and location.
For all products, we are exploring local, innovative, recycling solutions.
We aim to source all food, wine and other consumables in a sustainable and responsible manner. We have a strong commitment to British produce.
Commitment to biodiversity and conservation
An ethos of our shooting grounds relies on biodiversity protection and preservation. For a number of years we have invested in protecting flora, by (planting trees, keeping bees on site, and wild flowers).
We are committed to reducing waste with an ultimate goal of zero waste. As a first step we are minimising different waste streams on site and do not use single use plastics.
Labour and Compliance
Holland & Holland is strongly committed to conducting its business in compliance with all applicable labour and employment-related laws, rules and regulations of every location in which we do business and across our supply chain. This includes all laws, rules and regulations relating to wages and hours worked, equal employment opportunity, discrimination, immigration and work authorisation, privacy, collective bargaining, and child prison and forced labour.
Our internal code of conduct, provides the global ethical principles for all Holland & Holland employees which reflect our core values and expectations.
Holland & Holland has rolled out contractual clauses requiring our suppliers to adhere to all applicable laws, including those on forced and compulsory labour as well as compliance with all relevant health and safety laws.
