The Holland & Holland Shooting Grounds offer unrivalled facilities for rifle shooting tuition, with expert instruction and a comprehensive rifle range.
Successful rifle shooting depends on receiving the proper tuition from a skilled and qualified professional shooting instructor on a formal shooting range. Our resident rifle instructor is not only an expert at target shooting over a range of calibres and shooting positions, but he is also a fully qualified Professional Hunter trained in South Africa.
“Few companies have achieved such worldwide recognition in their chosen field as have Holland & Holland with their range of sporting rifles.”
As well as being the leading manufacturer of rifles in the country we are also the only one to provide full range facilities for customers to test, zero and practice shoot their rifles at our Shooting Grounds at Northwood. Our highly qualified instructors are on hand not only to instruct, but also to advise clients on the most suitable rifles for a particular quarry. Clients undertaking a rifle shooting course can expect to learn the following essential areas: Safety, Calibre Suitability, Positional Shooting, Stalking Techniques, Breathing Control, Rifle Maintenance, Aim Points, Bore Sighting, Understanding of Ballistics, Zero-ing,Use of Open and Telescopic Sights
The range offers 100 yard targets from a fully weather protected position with a 50 yard option also available. A brand new indoor rifle range using Schiesskino’ cinematographic technology will also be available soon for shooting a variety of game scenarios, including boar and deer. All of the normal stances can be practised including standing, sitting, kneeling and prone. For those wishing to take up rifle shooting with a view to ultimately take up deer stalking, we would recommend our Deer Stalking Rifle Course, a set programme of lessons designed to cover adequately the many areas of interest.
Lessons need to be pre-booked and are normally of 1 or 2 hours duration. All the equipment needed for the period of the lesson is provided free of charge, this includes an appropriate rifle (you are welcome to bring your own) but we have a large selection of calibres available for client use. Suitable safety equipment including both hearing and eye protection are also provided.
Unlike other Grounds, we book our lessons on a 75 minute cycle, giving the client a full hour before the instructor moves onto the next appointment. Prices are based per hour, and ammunition is charged at the prevailing rate based on the quantity used. Prices for lessons include VAT.
