Shooting lessons from one of our famous Holland & Holland instructors are undoubtedly the best way to either start a shooting career or to improve an existing shooting technique.
It was once said that “If Mr Holland is unable to teach a man to shoot then no-one can”, a sentiment that is every bit as true today as it was 100 years ago.
With the widest possible range of both clay and game targets available at our Shooting Grounds, all types of sporting targets can be simulated during the lessons. Whether you are a complete novice or a seasoned shot, time spent with us at the Shooting Grounds is time well invested, especially in the early stages of a shooting career. At Holland & Holland, we are proud to have taught shooters from all walks of life, young and old, male and female with varying amounts of experience.
For the game shooter, all types of traditional game birds can be simulated in realistic settings and any particular problem can be addressed and corrected. For the clay shooter, we have a wide range of suitable targets to test the very best. For the novice shooter, a range of stands are available which have been designed to instil confidence in the early stages of the learning curve.
Shooting Lesson Information
Individual shooting lessons need to be pre-booked and are normally of 1 or 2 hours duration. All the equipment needed for the period of the lesson is provided free of charge, this includes an appropriate shotgun (you are welcome to bring your own) but we have a very large selection, both side-by-side and over-and-under in a full range of lengths and calibres. Suitable safety equipment including both hearing and eye protection are also provided.
There are a number of lesson options available, which include individual lessons and young shots lessons (under 18 years old). A course of six lessons (you pay for 5 & get the 6th free) and season ticket options are also available.
Unlike other Grounds, we book our lessons on a 75-minute cycle, giving the client a full hour before the instructor moves onto the next appointment. Prices are based per hour, and cartridges & clays are charged at the prevailing rate based on the quantity used. Prices for lessons include VAT at the current rate.
Shared Shooting Lessons
Whilst the majority of lessons are on a one-to-one basis, we understand that some clients find shooting with a group of family and friends to be a more enjoyable occasion.
At the Shooting Grounds, we are able to offer shared shooting lessons for up to four adults. Two adults are able to book one or two hours with our instructors, and groups of three or four require a minimum booking of two hours. We can also provide special facilities for larger groups of up to 8 or 10 guns on request.
Those adults wishing to shoot with up to 2 children can also enjoy a shared lesson at a special price. Alternatively, we are more than happy to take groups of 4 young shots on their own.
Please contact us with your request and we will do our very best to accommodate you and ensure your time with us is both enjoyable and beneficial to everyone.
